T.P Ramakrishnan, the Minister for Labour and Excise, Kerala cabinet. It is not surprising that T. P Ramakrishnan, crusader of political struggles for the rights of labourers and agricultural workers in the state has been sworn-in as the Minister for Labour and Excise for the Kerala cabinet. T.P , as he is fondly called was instrumental in organising the labour agitation in Perambra and Koothali estate. T.P is also credited to have spearheaded the Muthukadu migration movement. Actively involved in trade union activities within the state, he is currently serving as State Vice-President of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). The CPIM led LDF has entrusted the responsibility to T.P by taking in to account of his role in  Keezhariyoor land struggle. T.P Born to Nambrathu Thazhathe Parambil Shankaran, an ardent communist, it was natural for T.P to have had the inclination towards the Communist-Marxist ideology. Having entered into the political arena as a member of Kerala Student Federation (KSF), T.P was appointed as CPIM Nambrathukara Branch Committee member in 1968 and he grew into district committee member in 1979.

During the emergency Period, T.P, due to his strong political association, was detained in the Police custody and underwent brutal tortures. He has also been active in parliamentary politics; he was elected as a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2001, contesting from Perambra constituency. However, he continued to consistently work towards strengthening the party and building the party cadre within the state despite a successful parliamentary political career. During his tenure as Secretary of CPIM Kozhikkode District Committee, his efforts were predominantly aimed at the reinforcing the party ideology among the people is indispensable. His Spouse M K Nalini, Janadhi pathya Mahila Association Kozhikkode District Secretary and also CPM District Committee Member, His family includes a son Rajulal and a daughter Renjini.
